St Joseph’s Catholic Church is a parish built around communion; communion with Christ in the Eucharist and in the Word; and communion with one another. In this community of faith, every parishioner is called to take an active part in furthering God’s kingdom, promoting the Gospel of Life, and supporting families, shut-ins, retirees, and the sick. We cherish the fundamentals of our faith while remaining prophetically open to new breaths of the Holy Spirit. This is more than a Parish; we are a Family of God where you are known by name.

A mission church is a local place of worship that does not have its own resident pastor. Instead they rely administratively and pastorally on a designated host parish. The pastor of the main parish is also responsible for the pastoral care and spiritual administration of the mission. Mass and confessions are usually held on a part-time or seasonal schedule rather than a full daily or weekly schedule.
Baptism is the starting point for Christians, offering access to the life of God’s Spirit. Those Baptized are reborn as children of God, are freed of Original Sin, become part of the family of Jesus, members of His Church, and share in the mission of the Church. Baptisms are done by request. Contact the parish office at 705-724-2118

The Sacrament of Confirmation is the final Sacrament of initiation, finalizing Christian commitment. In this Sacrament, God gives life to the Church and strengthens disciples through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Sacrament of Confirmation for young adults takes place annually; if your child is in grade 7 or 8, has received the sacraments of baptism, confession and communion, they can make the Sacrament of Confirmation. For adults looking to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation talk to us about the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (scroll down for more information).
Jesus remains physically present with his people through the Eucharist, under the appearance of bread and wine. Following his commandment to, “do this in memory of me” (Luke 22:19), those properly prepared receive Jesus as spiritual nourishment. Additionally, all Christians are invited to adore and worship Jesus always present in the Eucharist.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) restores a person’s relationship with God by forgiving sins committed after Baptism. Through confessing sins, expressing sorrow, and receiving absolution, disciples receive God’s mercy and healing grace. It also strengthens the person to resist sin and grow in holiness.

The Anointing of the Sick is a Sacrament through which God comforts and heals, physically and/or spiritually, his people. Though it has sometimes been called, ‘Last Rites’, there’s no need to wait till someone is near death to seek this Sacrament; this is for anyone facing serious illness or are in danger of death. At St. Joseph’s the Mass for the Sick takes place the first Friday every month at 6:00 pm. n an emergency, where death is imminent, please call Fr. Emmanuel directly at 705-724-2118. If the sick individual is in the hospital or a long-term care or retirement home, ask the staff for a Catholic Priest.
Holy Matrimony: Many are called to receive the Sacrament of marriage, to serve by loving their spouse freely, fully, fruitfully and totally. The shared love of married couples reminds us of God’s love for his Church and the vows they take at their wedding reveal God’s eternal commitment to his people. Six months notice is required to be married in the Church. Contact us for information about the Marriage Preparation Program.

All Baptized Christians are called to live out the priestly duties of offering sacrifice, worship and prayers on behalf of the world; a mission called the ‘common priesthood’. However, some men are called to live out this priesthood in a more specific way through the ‘ministerial priesthood’, especially by celebrating the Sacraments for the people.
Through discernment, men discover how they may be called to receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders and serve God and his people. Through a Vocations Office, the Diocese of Peterborough supports those discerning.
Do you feel called by God to embrace the Christian faith through the Catholic Church? Is your spouse Catholic and you are wondering how you can also become Catholic? We invite those seeking to become Catholic to its Adult Faith Formation Program, the “Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults” (RCIA) which begins in September each year. This program will enable you to discern the voice of God in your life so that you can see why, in a world embroiled in economic turmoil and uncertainties, faith in God who loves unconditionally, is worth it. Those validly baptised in any Christian denomination will not be baptised but simply received into the Church. This program is structured in such a flexible way that working people can participate. There will be bi-weekly meetings facilitated by trained formators; and at the completion of the program, candidates will be received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil Mass in the spring of the following year.
